The drive is the point
Most Class G training in Miami-Dade happens in the middle and north of the county. If you work a post in Homestead or Florida City, that is a long trip on US-1 or the Turnpike in each direction, and it turns a four-hour requalification into a lost day — which is a large part of why South Dade officers let the date slip.
Training in Homestead removes that excuse. It also means your requalification can be scheduled around a shift rather than instead of one.
An outdoor range changes what we can teach
Indoor bays are reliable and climate-controlled, but they are also constrained. An outdoor facility opens up the things a lane divider makes impossible:
- Movement — shooting while moving forward and laterally, which most indoor ranges prohibit outright
- Positional shooting — kneeling, squatting, supine, urban prone
- Use of cover and barricade work
- Multiple target transitions at realistic spacing
That matters most for Pistol Levels 3 to 5, where movement and cover are the whole curriculum rather than an add-on.

The security work down here does not look like downtown Miami. Officers requalifying at the Homestead range typically cover:
- Agricultural operations and packing facilities across the Redland
- Industrial and logistics sites along the US-1 and Turnpike corridors
- Event security, including the Homestead-Miami Speedway calendar
- Residential and gated community posts in Homestead and Cutler Bay
- Retail and commercial centres in Florida City
One honest caveat
Outdoor training is weather-dependent, and South Florida in summer has opinions. If a session has to move, we tell you as early as we can and reschedule — and if your qualification date is tight, we will put you at the indoor Hialeah range rather than let the weather push you out of compliance.

Yes — of our three ranges, Homestead is by far the shortest trip from Key Largo and the upper Keys.
