Florida Statute Chapter 493

Get your Class G.
And keep it current.

Getting licensed is the easy part. Staying licensed is what trips officers up — and an expired Class G means you cannot work an armed post until it is fixed. That is the part we handle.

The path

Where we pick you up

Florida licensing runs in order. The unarmed Class D comes first and is handled by a partner company; everything from the Class G onward is ours.

Before you start · Unarmed

Class “D” License

The unarmed security officer license, and the prerequisite for everything below. Alpha One does not teach this course — we work alongside a separately licensed company that does. Complete your Class D with them, then come to us for the armed training.

Class “G” License

The 28-hour statewide firearm course that authorizes you to carry on duty. Classroom legal instruction, safety doctrine, and a live-fire qualification you have to pass.

Annual Requalification

Florida requires Class G holders to requalify annually. Miss it and your armed authority lapses. We run these year-round and remind you before your date arrives.

Requalification is not optional

A Class G license is only good while your firearms qualification is current. Florida requires you to requalify every year — and agencies check.

Officers usually do not miss it on purpose. They miss it because nobody told them the date was coming. When you train with Alpha One, your expiration date goes into our system and you get reminded well before it becomes a scheduling emergency.

Paperwork

Get your file started

Complete the student onboarding form before class and you will not spend the first half-hour filling out paper on a clipboard.

The form collects your contact information, license details, emergency contact, and lets you upload copies of your documents. Everything is stored in your Alpha One student file, and you can update it any time.

Licensing itself is issued by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS), Division of Licensing. Alpha One provides the required training and documentation — the application goes to the state. We will walk you through it.
For security agencies

Training your whole roster

If you run a Class B agency, keeping every officer current is a scheduling problem before it is a training problem. We can take that off your desk.

Group scheduling

Bring a shift, a squad, or the whole roster. We will build the calendar around your post coverage instead of the other way around.

Expiration tracking

We track requalification dates per officer and flag who is coming due, so nobody on your roster quietly goes unqualified.

Clean documentation

Certificates, attendance, and qualification records issued in a form that holds up when a client or the state asks to see them.
